Fire In The Hole By Huron Low REVIEW

Posted In: . By Twozwozer

:O Excitement to the max! At about 4:20pm, my mum came in my room with a package for me! I rip it open and inside was my TnR Project DVD from Huron Low. I pop it open an inside fell out "0630".

The first DVD I pop in is FiTH. Menu loads up. Heres what you can select (-> what comes up after you click on it
*Introduction --> Intro, Advice On Learning, What is Fire In The Hole

*Performances -->Fire In The Hole, No Fire Restoration-> No Fire V1 and 2, No Cover Restoration

*Explanations --> Gaffs, Front View Explanation, Back View Explanation. (Note, there are 4 gaffs altogether, Time bombs, Basic Gaff, Advance Gaff 1, and Advance Gaff 2)

*Ideas and After thoughts

*Extras -> Trailers, Credits, Thank yous

:O excitement, but I came across my first bad point, there is no "Play All Button" So after every scene you have to keep starting and stopping. Another thing as well (this is my last bad point, I think) There are no street performances of this, except the bit we see in the trailer.
Ok, Now I have watched the DVD I can now go into a little more detail.

What you will need to perform Fire In The Hole
A Deck of cards, A Pen, A craft/pen knife, Tape, Glue Optional: Flash Paper, Cutting Board.

Basic Gimmick

The construction of this gimmick is extremely easy, I dont think there is anyone on the planet who cant make this. Huron doesn't go into to much detail because, well its that easy to make. Not much more I can say about it until the method of Basic FiTH. (For this one, only one spectator can sign the card on the back, and then you sign the other signature)
UPDATE: I made my first basic Gimmick today, it was easy to do, no troubles, I just need to practice doing the RSM move with this gimmick.

Advance Gimmick #1

This gimmick is slightly different from the Basic Gimmick, but again very easy to make, the reason it is different is so the effect is more convincing. The only downside to this gimmick is that it might not last as long as the basic one. But it can still be put through a few performances (It all depends on how well you look after it really, like I guess the Distortion Gimmick)(For this one, only one spectator can sign the card on the back, and then you sign the other signature)

Advance Gimmick #2

This gimmick is (accordingly) the magician fooler one, it is pretty much exactly the same as the AG#1 but it has 3 small differences. Again, very easy to make, have I already said that? (This is the gimmick which allows 2 spectators to sign the card, and they choose which signature to cut out.)

Handling/Method

Ok, for the handling/method, on the DVD there are two ways to watch it, from the front, or from Huron's Point Of View. Each view basically goes over the same thing, but there are some things that are only said in one of the view (like small tips) and also things that you might not have been able to see. As Huron says in "Advice on Learning" it is wise to watch both views.(Of course, the 3 different non-fire methods are included as well as the 3 fire methods, so there are 6 methods of FiTH )

Basic Handling

The basic handling goes over the set up, going into the routine and how to do the move (Reverse Spider man). This section of how to do FiTH is the most detailed so you might be watching this a few times, even if your doing the other 2 fire methods. Yeah, basically this goes over everything to perform this effect. There are no major sleights accept for the RSM move. At the moment I cant really do it well, but I think its cause I'm using really old cards, so I need to whip out a fresh pack.
UPDATE: I spoke to a friend who also go this today and told me how he does the move, and now I can do quite easily, if any one need any help PM me.

Advance Handling #1
"This handling is more of a subtlety with a really nice convincer, rather than a change in handling". This handling is very, very nice. For this one, you actually get to see the piece being pulled out from the card. Basically, the method is exactly the same as the basic method, but with the extra bit of holding up the card and taking the piece. This handling also uses the RSM move.

Advance Handling #2
"This is the thing that fools everybody, fools all the magicians" This is the hardest handling, but it allows you to let 2 spectators sign the card and let them choose which signature they can cut out. The beginning of the trick is the same, until it gets to the signing part. Its pretty easy until just after you ask which signature they want to cut out. There is a certain move that you have to do so that they can check that the cut out piece is their's. The move can be broken down into to parts, the first is really easy and doesn't take much effort, the next part will require a small bit of mis-direction. The move isn't obvious as it is hidden under the misdirection, I highly doubt you will get caught doing the move. (Its really hard to describe this move without exposure, but before doing this method, you will need to try something out on your friends/family first).

Lets move on. Once you do this move, after that it is exactly the same as the other advance method. Not much to it besides that move up there.

Cleaning Up

As you know this effect needs a gimmick and yes you will need to clean up. The clean up is done in 3 simple moves. The Fold. The Brush. And The Ditch. (Huron doesn't call it that, but I do) Their not hard moves to do, although it will require some work, lie checking in the mirror, video camera, or how ever you check a sleight when you practice it. Anyone who owns a card gimmick will probably not have much trouble with this as Ive seen this clean up/moves in some other routines.

No Fire Methods

No Fire Method #1 (With Cover)
This is extremely easy to do, this is the easiest handling of FiTH. The only thing you will really need to practice is the clean up.(see above). So basically its the same start as what ever method you choose to use, until it gets to the fire bit, then you do the one extremely easy move, then you do the clean up and thats it.

No Fire Method #2 (Less cover than #1)
If you can do the RSM (Reverse Spider man) then your pretty much sweet for this routine, again, same start up and same clean up.

No Fire, No Cover Method
This is what you see right at the end of the FiTH Trailer. This method uses the Advance Gimmick #2 , but there is an extremely small change to how the gimmick is made. Extremely easy is you have the stuff I said to get. So basically, go into the same start up as Advance Handling #2. So you show the piece with the spectators signature, and then very slowly fuse it to the card. How is this done? It uses the same move in the No Fire Method #1, easy. Then the clean up is slightly different from all the others, and Huron reckons its slightly harder. The change is in the Fold Move (See Clean Up), its not a big change, and you should be able to cope. After that, do the clean up as normal.

Ok, so that pretty much it from me for this review, I will keep updating the FAQs and tell you how I'm going with my practice. I cant really give it an overall rating yet because I haven't performed it yet, but if your looking for a TnR, this is the way to go. Why? Because its so much more visual and different from all the other TnRs, it steps over that creation line. All the TnR out there look the same, but just rely on different methods.

Stay tuned for my FOUR review and 0630, plus updates on FiTH
Cheers. Tom

Ok, so I signed up for PPP (Pay Per Post) about 3 months ago, I heard about it from The Cuso. He posted on his blog saying that you can get payed for posting things on your blogs, such as reviews and other things. Basicly, Announcers set offers for you to write about products/websites/whatever. And you can look through a big list to see if any of those products fit in the context of your blog and you get payed for reviewing and linking back to them. Sounds great?

When you post a successful entry, you can have your money paid into your paypal account. So then you can buy what ever your heart desiers. For me, it will probably something to do with magic.

The only bad thing I found about Pay Per Post, is that your blog has to be at least 90 days old. But other than that, I found PPP easy to use and its a great way to earn a few bucks if you have a blog.

(And by the way, for posting thing I'll be getting $20, its that easy.)

So if you want to set up a Pay Per Post account just send me an email or post a comment and Ill do my best to help you out.

Cheers, Tom

Witness Review

Posted In: . By Twozwozer

This is long over due....

Title: Witness
By: Lee Asher
Where: http://www.theory11.com/

(This is a review of the Witness Download)

Description:
After having a card selected, your spectator holds a zip lock bag with Joker sealed inside. The Joker, held securely between the spectator's palms, 'transforms' into the selection! Never once is the bag opened. Everything can be handed out for examination. (Note. There can be another card instead of the Joker)

The Intro.
We get to see a full performance of Witness, unfortunately there is only one performance :( but it doesnt matter much. You do get to see the end though, or the after thoughts of the trick from 3 other groups of people

After the performances, Lee goes on to talk about how the effect came to be what it is today.

The Set Up.
Yes, there is a set up. But once your set, you are ready to go, the only problem is that the restart cannot be done in front of your spectators. Ok, back to the set up. This is extremely easy to do. There is something you will need but I can 100% guaranty that you will have this. Oh, and of course you will need a ziplock bag. Lee explains all this very well, and it is very easy to follow.

The Move #1
Most of you that have been into card magic for a while now will know this move. If you havent Lee teaches you to very important Sleights that you can use for this routine. These Sleights can also be used in any other routine you have. The Move is very easy to do. One is slightly hard than the other, but is more convincing. (It isnt as hard as lets say, a pass.)

The Bag.
Lee goes over the handling of the bag, how you can let the audience see that the Joker (or what ever card your using), is definitely inside that bag. Again this is very easy. Lee also goes over some subtleties that will help improve the effect.

The Move #2
Lee goes over the other move you will need to know in this effect. Again, as Ive said many times before, its extremely easy. Lee goes over important subtleties that will make the move as natural as possible, no one will catch on to this. I have never been called on it. Once you have done the move, the rest of the effect is just presentation, which is where you come in....

Presentation.
Lee goes over some basic presentation, he doesnt give you a set of lines to follow and read, thats not the point. He wants you to go out there and make this effect your own, present it your own unique way. Lee talks about how you can build this effect to make it more powerful and hard hitting.

Final Thoughts.
Lee goes over a few last tips about the revelation to, again, make this effect hit hard.

This whole DVD/DL is pretty much is about taking something simple and making it one of the most hard hitting effects you own. I highly recommend this, for beginners and Pros. This has gone straight into my routine as one of my closers. And one more thing, one of the best things is.... You are completely clean.....

Cheers, Tom

Another eagerly awaited trailer. I shall be ordering the TnR Project Bundle this saturday :D

Extremely visual.

The card is freely selected, no forces or duplicates.

The card can be signed on both sides by the spectators.

Only ONE card is used in the whole routine, the one the spectator keeps as a souvenir. An ingenious gimmick that can be used over and over again makes it all possible.

The card is fully examinable before and after the effect.

The reset time is a mere 3 seconds.

All the effects have MULTI-ANGLED studio performances and tutorials and explain everything in vivid detail.

Multiple handlings of Fire in the Hole including fire and non-fire restorations.

Here’s what it is in more detail.
A card is freely selected and is signed twice on the back by a spectator, on the top and on the bottom. Details are then written on the face of the card, making the card significantly unique.

ANY signature is selected and cleanly sliced out with a pen-knife.

A “time bomb” is introduced and placed over the hole.
The bomb is lit and bursts into flames, enveloping the hole in a swirl of fire, VISUALLY SEALING the hole, blasting the card back in time so it is now FULLY RESTORED.

The card is then immediately handed out for examination and can be kept by the spectator as a souvenir, the effect, scorched into his mind for eternity...

Sorry I havent posted a video in a while, Ive been busy with exams and such. Any way, Ive been waiting for this video for ages. It was well worth the wait. Check it out.

You can find this, "Fire in the Hole" and "Four" at www.hutonlow.com.

As I was browsing around Theory11, I found something rather interesting.....

Went Filming....

By Twozwozer

Ok, so me and my mate Rob went into the city with our video camera ready to fool the crap out of anyone that came within a meter radius of us. So we got into the city and had a wonder up to the market square, it wasnt that busy, but there were people there who had nothing to do. So I had a wonder and went up to this table of people and asked if they wanted to see some magic and they said ok. I did my normal routine. And though out the whole performance, I only got a small giggle, I could not get a reaction out of them. I was going to close with Witness but I decided not too as I wasnt getting a reaction and I couldnt see the point. So we moved on.

We had a wonder round, bumped into a few of my friends, said Hi and went looking for another bunch of people to perform to. Ok, so me and my mate found two girls sitting down being bored so we went to perform to them. I pulled off my whole routine, I even closed with Witness. I got some good reactions. But the only problem was...My mate forgot to press record..... and just to add on top of that, the Cam decided to go on low battery. Hmm. So with only a single crap perform on Cam. We called it a day and headed home.

We had to stop early as my camera guy wanted to see his girlfriend, I had never met her before and showed her some stuff. She freaked out, if only the camera had been working. After we said laters and headed out into the streets to wait for the bus. I was waiting, standing on this stage like area just messing about with my cards, XCM and stuff like that. When these two random girls came out of no where and asked if I was a magician. They told me they had had a little too much to drink, neither the less, I did some magic and they were completely stunned. Again if only the camera was working.... After a trick or two, the girls thanked me, hugged me and walked of into the distance.....

So that was my day, it had it's ups and downs, but that was really a practise day. Might go filming again soon after my exams.

Cheers, Tom

North Shore Magicians Club.

Posted In: . By Twozwozer

Last night was legend, I went to the North Shore Magicians Club in Takapuna last night, and it was a great night to go as it was close up month. I got there, really early and I met an Old Guy called Bill, he showed me some stuff with some safety pins and the colour changing knife, which was actually quite good.

I then met the Vice President of the Club and chatted with him for a bit, then we went in side and sat down, and they spoke about the show they recently did. ( Which I missed :'( ) Then, someone had to do an initiation act. It was pretty good, it would look good to a lay audience I must admit. Then we went back into the room, and the person who was taking the meeting asked if anyone had any magic to show, this month was card magic. About 6 people went up including me, I perform the classic "World's Greatest Card Trick". Another dude did a brilliant Triumph Routine, Which I now really want to learn. There was this 8 year old (about) who performed a really good card trick, which fooled me completely.

That was about it pretty much, I chatted with some of the guys after and made some good friends, cant wait till next month now, its going to be legend.

Oh, and also my Mum has found her video camera, so some Street Vidoes coming soon. And also Ive just downloaded Lee Asher's Witness ( From www.theory11.com )I shall be writing a review soon,

Thanks for reading

Cheers, Tom

Bullet and Factory Sealed....

Posted In: . By Twozwozer

If you havent already seen the trailers for the two most ultimate coin in bottles, then check them out here. Bullet and Factory Sealed (Note, If pages are offline, check back at halloween, noon Pacifc)

Ive just seen both trailers for these, all I can say is WOW. These look like the cleanest CIBs (Coin In Bottle) Ive ever seen, I think I might pick up both of these, Ive been looking for a decent CIB for ages. I will definatley be putting these into my routine.

For those of you who havent seen them, Ill give a little description.

Bullet: Show bottle, take cap off and let people check it, put cap back on, take coin (anyone's), hold on the palm of your hand, slam bottle (base) on your palm, coin shoots in. Hand out for inspection.... To good to be true?

Factory Sealed : Take a full bottle of water, take a coin, rub the coin on bottle, coin melts through. Hand out for inspection, sounds impossible? Just wait till you see the trailer. Oh did I mention spectators can hold the bottle while you do this....

Magic Show At School.

By Twozwozer

These past two days have been pretty cool with magic, my name has defiantly spread round the school more. I decided to put on a close up magic show at lunch time and interval (morning tea). This was just out side, the weather was perfect, not a cloud in the sky, a perfect time to pull out some effects where you can get some of the worst hecklers.

So, all I did to advertise was just spread the word by telling people what I was going to do and put a note in the school notices. The biggest crowd I got was about 20 (ish). It was really good, my routine was as followed.

  • ACR (About 4/5 phases)
  • Greg Wilsons Weighted Aces
  • 2CM
  • (Then Switch to Ghost Deck)
  • World's Greatest Card Trick
  • Joker Revelation
  • Card Adding (Force a card, eg 10 of D, let them shuffle it, look through pack, put 10 Of D on top and pull out 3 of D and 7 of D, show the 7 and ask if it was their card, no, show 3, no. Then Shapeshifter, I get loads of good reactions from this)
  • Close with the Invisable Deck

Yeah, it was a pretty good couple of days, the only problem was I had the same people return each day and they wanted to see some new stuff. Oh well. It was still legend.

Cheers. Tom

PS. Getting a Video Camera for Xmas :D

Witness Contest

By Twozwozer

"The release will be at 7:00pm EST on the dot. In the theory11 warehouse, there are 52 decks of extremely rare, extremely hard to find Wynn Decks, printed exclusively by the Wynn Hotel and Casino Las Vegas. They feel the most like Jerry's than any deck we've felt in years. And they're no longer being printed. You've seen them in the Dan and Dave Trilogy Bonus Video. And they sell on eBay for up to $10 a deck-- used. These are in flawless condition. Sealed.Oh... did I mention that they're signed by Lee Asher? They're signed by Lee Asher. Be one of the first FIFTY-TWO to get Witness on October 31st, and you win. It's simple. It's easy. You're in."

Not one of Theory 11's best contest, I wont be entering it, I never like competitions where you race to see who can buy what product first. Its hard enough with the time differences. Oh well, Im sure some of you guys out there who would like Witness will enjoy this.

Cheers, Tom

Well Ive been really busy this week, with assesments and exams, Im also campaining for Head Boy as well at my school. Magic wise not much as been happening. At school this week I had a really good performance, I was just walking round school card springing, when someone saw me and says "Woah! Do that again!" So I did, and then I said "Do you want to see something really cool...." Then I went into my routine, and couple of other people came to watch, it was really good.

Today was crap though, I had promised a friend a effect he hadnt seen, I was just half way through it when some guys came over (Who had tried to sabotage my performances before) They started to be pricks, so I had to cut the effect short, that was really disappointing. But you have to learn to live with these people some how.

This weekend Im going to a games expo down in Auckland, I might be able to pull off some effects there, I might beg my mum and see if I can take her camera. Ill put up some photos and maybe some performance vids if I make any.

Cheers, Tom

Panic Review

Posted In: , . By Twozwozer

Name: Panic
By: Aaron Fisher
Length: 43 minutes
This is what real magic would look like
The four Kings are shown and placed into your back pocket. The remainder of the deck is spread cleanly, and then it happens. The deck instantly vanishes in your hands -- leaving only four cards. The cards are shown to be the Kings. And where's the rest of the pack? In your back
pocket. No sleights. No funny moves
What you get: The DVD, and the special Gimmicks to do this effect.
What you will need: A RED Rider Back Deck.
The DVD.
Opening Titles: Aaron welcomes. Basically it's the same as the trailer on Theory 11. Nothing Much.
Performances: We get to see 2 live performances of the trick, unfortunately there aren't any of Wide Spread Panic (Ill talk about later). The performances are good. This is a trick that doesn't really need well thought of patter. I suppose you could do it silently if you wanted to.
The Gaffs: Aaron talks about the inspiration for the trick and how it came to be. He then goes on to talk about the Gaffs, credits, and different ways to show the gaffs in performance.
Basic Handling: Aaron goes over the basic handling that he prefers to perform, he show you the effect on more time.
Set-Up: Yes there is a set up but it isn't that big, also the audience wont notice it because this is supposed to be an opening trick. Aaron goes over the set-up in detail, very easy to follow, nothing complex.
Part 1, 2 and 3.: Aaron goes over the entire effect in great detail, he also talks about different subtleties to improve the trick. Also he goes over how to handle the gaffs in the performance and how to optimize the illusion. The handling for the effect is crucial for making it look good. The moves aren't hard, but will take some time and practice to make it look smooth, I still haven't got it yet, needs some more work. At the end, Aaron goes over the clean up, which isn't to hard, there are loads of harder tricks to clean up than this.
Wide Spread Panic:
The Effect: You show for Kings, and put them in 4 different positions in the deck, you show the audience they are. You give the deck a cut and a riffle and one king jumps to your right pocket. You show your hands empty and pull it out. You riffle the deck again, another kings jumps to your left pocket, hands empty again. For the last two, you do them both at once. Riffle twice and the two kings jump to your two back pockets. Once you show the kings, you go straight into Panic. (NO PALMING OR FUNNY MOVES.)
The Moves: There are only two moves need for this trick, they aren't that hard to pull off, and if you have lots of experience with card, you should already know one of the moves. This will be going into my routine.
The Unexpected: Aaron goes over things that can unexpectedly happen during the trick, this is great for the Party Performer or Restaurant Performer.
Dynamic Sleight Of Hand: Aaron talks about altering your sleight of hand to suit different groups of people. IE Different numbers. Again this is great for Party Performer, Restaurant Performer, or even stage. He also goes over a extra special move that can enhance the effect.
Final Thoughts: Aaron gives his final thoughts, I think these are very important and can be applied to any effect.
Overall Opinion: Well this and D.D are defiantly going into my routine, and this isn't just going to sit on the shelf and collect dust. This is something you will actually want to perform. The sleights arnt hard, they just need a bit of work to get them good. I cant wait to try this out on the street. Highly recommend.
Cheers, Tom

Name: Digital Dissolve
By: BJ Bueno
Teaching: Dan White
Lenght: 27 Minutes
From: www.theory11.com

Simple + Direct + Elemental = Pure Magic

A half dollar is placed into a spectator's closed hand. You rest a copper English penny on the back of that same hand, and the copper coin visually changes into the half dollar. The coin is immediately shown on both sides. The spectator opens their hand to find the English penny. Both coins can be fully examined, immediately.

What you get: The DVD, the special Gimmicks you need to perform this, Gimmick case with ultra-special tissue. :D (Every thing you need to perform this come with your purchase).

The DVD

The Effect: Dan talks about the effect and the creator. Not much really.

Performances: We get to see a live performance of the trick to a group of about five people. Also we get to see/hear Dan's trick that leads into this effect. This is very helpful chapter as you can see what the trick is supposed to look like and also hear the patter Dan uses when hes doing the effect.

Explanation: Dan takes you through the gimmicks and gives another performance. The performance this time is a version you can do without the spectator holding the coins, you do it just in your own hands. (This gets taught later)

The Core Move: Dan goes over the main gimmick again in more detail. He then goes over the core move you will need for the routine once you've mastered this then your pretty much sorted now. The move isn't that hard to pull off, and doesn't take that long until it looks smooth.

The Basic Routine: Dan goes over the routine we see in the performance. (But not the trick that leads into it.) The handling is very easy and you should have no trouble with it. Dan also goes over the clean up briefly as well, so you can hand the coins out.

The One Handed Toss: Dan goes over another handling for the effect. This is the version you can do in your own hands (but can be done using the spectators hands). This is again, not too hard to do, I would say a little bit harder to do than the basic routine. It wont take that long to look smooth.

Final Thoughts: Dan gives his thoughts on the tricks, the people he wants to thanks, and where to find more information about him. Not really anything to help you with the effect.

BONUS!

The Name: A great video about how the name came to be.

------------------------------

Overall Opinion: A good DVD, a little on the short side I think, although all your questions do get answered. Ive been working on this all day today ( Massive big storm, so had to stay inside). I think I got the basics down, I just need someone to practise on now. This is definitely a coin trick for the card guy. This is my first coin trick and I'm an all card guy, this has definitely got me into coins now as well. If your worried about getting this effect don't be, I can promise it wont disappoint, and if it does, no worries, you can return it within 30 days, no questions asked.

So, what are you waiting for?

Cheers, Tom

Back from Tara's

By Twozwozer

Ok, sorry this is late, Ive been busy with work and everything. So I managed to find Tara's place and when I went in-side, I could not believe it, his house was just filled with boxes upon boxes of magic stuff. And when something looked like it had nothing to do with magic, all you had to do was take a closer look to see that it was. We spoke about what I want to get out of magic and if I want to take the next step, turning magic from a hobby into something else. Now I'm still not sure about this because I'm being torn both ways. My parents don't like my magic, and they think I should just concentrate on my school work and that magic wont make me any money. Then there is Tara who has actually made money from magic, it's his job. I still don't know what to do.

Any way, later that day we went over to Tara's Mum's Pad, and her house is just filled with old, antique weapons and suits of armor. Of course, there are boxes of old magic stuff. I had a browse round, then we went back to Tara's by that time I had to leave to go to work :( So I left. It was a pretty good day, I should be going round there next Sunday for a lesson. Should be great.

Thanks for reading.

So tomorrow I'm going to see my very first professional magician and chill out at his house for a bit. His name is Tara Okan and is 1 of 3 professional magicians in New Zealand. So, how did I meet him?

Well it was 5 days before my birthday and I was on the way to work, I had arrived an hour and a half early and had time to kill. So I went to the new mall, that had just opened up. I had a look round, grabbed some breakfast and was just walking about when I saw a magician performing, the first ever good magician I had seen in New Zealand. He was performing the classic linking ring trick. This effect had always fascinated me and I could never work out how it was done. I watched his performance and he finished and went off to find another group of people. I had some cards on me and had my trustee sharpie at my side and I felt compelled to perform. So I went up to these girls who were sitting down and pulled off a simple ACR routine (A great DVD that teach this is found here, I will write a review soon) Gregory Wilson's Weighted Aces (Found on Double Take), a simple card switch and I think that was it. After that, I went looking for the magician again.

I saw him performing the linking rings again, I had seen it so many times but yet it still had me hooked. I was playing with my card just as he was finishing his routine, he saw me playing with them, we had a quick conversation and exchanged phone numbers, met his daughter who was there, then I had to dash to work. And that was the end of that day.

Then on my birthday, after school on friday, I got a text saying to come down to the mall, Tara was performing again. went down there at 5 and didnt get back till 8, Tara took me home and met my parents and sold them to magic. My mum is still a bit unsure, I think my dad is the most excited.

So tomorrow, Saturday, Im going to head down to the city early in the morning and try and find his house, and I will get back to you all late Saturday night ( Got Work Again :( )

Thanks for Reading. Tom

Everyone has been there, Where do I start?

Well first, you should stay away from exposure sites. There full of rubbish. And its looked down upon in the Magic community, its just like those Movie Piracy Adverts, you've all seen them, its stealing.

Second, decide which type of magic you want to perform. Do you like card tricks? Coin tricks? It's important to work out which type of effects you'd like to perform, so you can better gain an understanding as to which product is right for you.

Third, Browse the web, search different forums for recommended products, or you could just message me. Theres so much out there.

Fourth, Ok so you found something you really like, dont click that Buy It Now button right away, research first, Search the web for reviews. If you buy the item and it's terrible, most magic sites say "Tough luck, want to give us more money and buy something else?" So make sure you read at least 3 reviews for that product, because what one person thinks may not be what everyone else thinks.

Well, The very basic for getting started, Ill post more about practising and performing soon :D

Good Sites For Reviews (Note, Reviews will be on the Forum section of the sites)

Thanks, Tom

Theories Of Magic

By Twozwozer

#1 Production:Making someone or something appear. Examples are Appearing Cane, Appearing Candle, etc.

#2 Vanish:Making someone or something disappear. Examples are Vanishing Cane, Vanishing Candle, etc.

#3 Transposition:Making someone or something move magically to a different location. A variation of this can involve two objects exchanging places. This movement is normally invisible or covered from the audience's view (An object moving by itself visibly would be a different effect). Examples are Card to Wallet, Ambitious Card, etc.

#4 Transformation:Making someone or something to change appearance. This can be further divided into different variations, for example a color change would be something only changing color but still maintaining its shape (Color-changing Candle), whereas a sponge ball turning into a sponge square would be something changing shape but still maintaining its material. Lastly, an object can change entirely into another object, for example an apple changing to an orange.

#5 Multiplication:Making someone or something appear repeatedly in succession. This is essentially a production but I consider this a separate effect because I think the repeated nature of this has quite a different effect on an audience as compared to a standard production routine where different things are being produced from a space that is too small to hold them. Some examples of this are Multiplying Billiard Balls, Multiplying Bottles, etc.

#6 Penetration:Making someone or something pass through another person or object. Examples are all the solid through solid tricks.

#7 Restoration:Restoring someone or something to the original condition after being cut or broken apart. Examples are Torn and Restored Newspaper, Sawing Through A Woman and most of the large stage illusions.

#8 Suspension:Making someone or something remain suspended impossibly in mid-air. This can be perceived as a kind of magical balancing act as in the case of the Chair Suspension where the girl's body still rests partially on the chair. Another variation is the Floating Carpet where the girl seems to be floating on a carpet entirely free of any support.

#9 Levitation:Making someone or something float and move impossibly in mid-air. This looks quite similar to the Suspension effect, however I distinguish this as having a lot of independent movement and not just remaining in one spot in the air. Examples are The Floating Rose, Asrah Levitation, etc.

#10 Mentalism:I use this as a catch-all category for all effects that seem to be performed by mind power, for example mind-reading, prediction, telekinesis and others.
